VSA arts of Alabama developed Creativityin 1992 to give adult artists with disabilities and chronic illnesses living in Alabamathe opportunity to showcase their artistic excellence and to participate in a juried exhibition. The show is open to all adult artists with disabilities and chronic illnesses living in Alabama over the age of eighteen. A selection of pieces from the exhibit is chosen each year to be included in VSA arts of Alabama’s Traveling Exhibit, which tours to select venues across the state.

Creativity 2009 featured 198 unique works of art created by 116 adult artists with various disabilities and chronic illnesses.
Cities represented in 2009’s show include:
Adamsville, Auburn, Birmingham, Chunchula, Daphne, Eight Mile, Enterprise, Fairhope, Fort Payne, Homewood, Hoover, Huntsville, Millport, Mobile, Montgomery, Pelham, Semmes and Sylacauga.
